Permission set groups - User Management

Permission set groups allow you to add multiple permission sets as a group according to the user's job function. Users who are assigned with this permission set group will receive combined permissions from all the permission sets. This will reduce the admins work to assign multiple permission sets to multiple users and save time.

If you ever worked on an FSL project, you will know the users needs to be assigned multiple permission sets for them to access the dispatcher console or mobile app.

To create a permission set groups:

  • Setup -> Permission set groups -> New Permission set group.
  • Enter the label of the permission set group and add the description.
Here the user's job functions are to create cases for the customer queries and also create a work order and assign them to the technician through dispatcher console. So he/she will need the following permission sets to be assigned:
  • FSL Agent License
  • FSL Agent Permissions
  • FSL Dispatcher License
  • FSL Dispatcher Permissions
Now we are going to create a permission set groups with the above permissions added to it.

1) Create a permission set group named "FSL Agents & Dispatchers"

2) Click on the permission sets in the group.
3) Click the button Add Permission sets.
4) Select the Permission sets to be added part of this group.

5) Click the add button and the permission set will be added successfully to the permission set groups.

6) Now click on the Manage Assignments and assign these to the users.

    1. Hello Subham,

Thanks for reading out the blog! It totally depends on the requirement. For example if one of the Sales Team manager needs access to Service Cloud features, obviously we will create a permission set and assign it the user. In this case, you can groups those permissions and assign it as a group instead of multiple permissions and which can be used even if another user needs a similar permisison in feature.! I hope that helps!

      Thanks,
      Vetri
